About protonURL

👤 Who are we?

protonURL is a service developed by Everlats S.L., a Spanish company specializing in web tool development. The service was launched in 2023 with a clear mission: enabling the secure sharing of sensitive content through single-use links.

💡 Why protonURL?

It started with a simple observation: sending a password or sensitive content by email or SMS is risky. That kind of information stays stored for months — sometimes years — in inboxes and "Sent" folders, accessible to anyone who gains access to those accounts.

With protonURL, all that remains in those mailboxes is a link to content that no longer exists. The message is read once, then destroyed. The link becomes useless. It's as simple as that.

🔐 Why the name?

The word "proton" refers to a subatomic particle — one of the fundamental building blocks of matter, positively charged, found at the core of every atom. It is a universal term from physics, part of the common scientific vocabulary. That physical reality is what the name refers to, for the following reasons:

1. Invisible but essential security

A proton is small, fast, and fundamental. protonURL does the same thing: it creates a unique link, invisible after reading, but crucial for transmitting information in an ultra-secure way.

2. Contained energy, then destroyed

Just as a proton can trigger powerful reactions, every link created with protonURL holds a confidential "charge"… that self-destructs after use to protect what it transmitted. The analogy is not cosmetic: it precisely describes how the service works.

3. A serious name for a serious service

The word "proton" carries a technical, scientific quality that builds trust. Users immediately understand they're using a reliable, well-structured tool built with care.

4. A tool for discreet transmission

protonURL is the idea of a message passing discreetly between two points — like a particle crossing a field. You send it, it's read, and it disappears. Simple, clean, secure.

5. A short, memorable name with meaning

Short, clear, and meaningful: it combines a universal scientific term ("proton") with the concept of a URL — a natural fit for a tool that transmits sensitive content through single-use web links.

6. A personal touch

Always fascinated by physics and simple concepts that hide enormous complexity, "protonURL" felt like a good summary of what I wanted to offer: a small but powerful tool.
